Field guide

New to the valley? A returning settler usually walks you in, but here is the short version so your first evening isn't spent guessing.

Your first day

  1. Pick a bunk at the Low Camp. Nobody owns the Low Camp — it's where everyone starts.
  2. Gather enough wood and cord for a lean-to before the first night. The cold does real damage.
  3. Mark your lean-to on the shared map so the cartographers can find you.

Finding your trade

Most settlers drift toward one craft: foraging, timber, stonework, or mapping the high passes. You keep what you make and bring the surplus to the Saturday market. Coin isn't a thing here — we barter.

Staying warm with the group

The realm runs best when camps cluster. Lone cabins in the far valleys are romantic for about a week, then the resupply walk gets old. Build near others; share a fire.

When you're stuck

Ask at the market or leave a note on the camp board. Someone always answers by the next in-world morning.
